Next Step #266: From Arizona - the "hair cut" dilemma (almost) - connecting dots with a River Runs through it. After analysis, doing it. The Transfiguration - Did you miss the point? You'll be surprised who else did! A mellow look at some difficult ideas.

Missing the Point - Need a Tent?
Next Step #214: At the Transfiguration Peter loses sight of the celebration and asks the mundane. A look at Kazantzakis' Last Temptation of Christ, and some other bothersome questions: why death? why cancer? why children die? Reconnecting with the past and finding relevance. A trip up to the Sugar Pine. More on the Higgs Boson - and not losing the point at the Transfiguration.

The Center Light is Greater than the Law & the Prophets
Next Step #164: The elements of the Transfiguration of the Lord are looked at through the lens of Armenian Orthodoxy. Making sense of the water feast of Vartevar. Part 2 of 2 on the theme - understanding the CENTER figure as between Law and Prophet. (Part 1 - see NS episode #163) Seeking validity for ourselves from non-Christian sources. Summer readings and the fallacy in catch-up mentality. The Gospel of St. Matthew, chapter 17 as the platform for this weekend.

Transfiguring into Light
Next Step #163: Understanding Light as a function of temperature and not lumens. Fr. Vazken takes the listener on a journey to the Beginning, when light meant more than a sun ray, cf. “I am the Light of the World” – Jesus Christ. This is the first of a two-part podcast that explores the story of the Transfiguration (Gospel of St. Matthew, chapter 17) in terms of light and focus. Comments on Exorcism from “Beyond Belief” and Fr. Albert (Jerry Springer with a collar?) – a mirror of society’s needs and wants. An end to the Space Shuttle Program comes as the HP-G60 is retired from the Next Step.

One Wish: iPhone, iDuduk, Wealth, Health or Light?
Next Step #110: The Light of Transfiguration – one wish, what would it be? Health? Wealth? Or… ?; On the ethical and church issues with Apple’s iPhone mess, and a listen to iDuduk and iShvee (http://youtempo.com/). Looking beyond the corporate nature of the Church and avoiding the lies and hypocrisy Jesus warns against. Finally – some answers regarding Fr. Vazken’s nerves– was it the Gor concert? Coffee? Vuvuzelas? Or the Highway Patrol?

From Numbers to Light – it’s the connection that matters
Next Step #58: Next Step begins with an interesting number theories from listener Yuri in St. Petersburg, Russia. Is it by chance that #57 had all the digits in the date stamp? If so, what about zero? Can you shed some light on that? Jesus did exactly that – with the Transfiguration. Light was not spared to tie us into the beginning of all creation and the end of time as we know it. God’s promise to open our hearts to love and the well-lit path is explored by Fr. Vazken’s expose of the feast of Transfiguration. But don’t fret the esoteric themes, there’s a serving of fish and chips in this episode. It happens to be everything you need and more. Listen in to a wild ride from numbers to light and realize that they are all connected.

Vartavar - The Transfiguration Feast
This coming Sunday is referred to as Vartavar; a pagan feast transfigured into a Christian one. So today Fr. Vazken takes the next step to a place called Transfiguration. Jesus’ transfiguration is documented in several of the Gospels including the scene in Matthew 17 where Christ reveals His illumined Divinity. His face shines like the sun and his garments become as white as light. What does all of this mean to us today? How does Pink Floyd figure into this? Do transfigs only grow in
